VOYAGER
In 1977 NASA sent two spacecraft, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, out into space. Their aim - to explore our solar system...and then keep going. And explore they did - the Voyagers sent back breathtaking photographs, including the first pictures of gas giants in our solar system AND a picture of our own tiny Earth, suspended in a beam of light. A moving depiction of our insignificance and unique value in the universe. The Voyagers also transcended what was humanly possible - they are the farthest any human-made object has fared into deep space. Most interesting perhaps, is that they didn't travel alone. Both carry a Golden Record on board - a microcapsule of home - giving any alien life a glimpse into human life on Earth - sounds and images from our planet and the experience of being human.
How can anyone distill human experience onto a record and how to choose what to include?
Sarah Rose Graber and Ruxy Cantir bring you Voyager - a brand new visual theatre performance, using video projection, puppetry, vaudeville, mask, and clown.
Aimed at dreamers and sentient carbon-based Earthlings, Voyager seeks to celebrate the creative ingenuity of an impossible endeavour - the awe-inspiring experience of being human.
